“Physical Education – the subject that can make your heart race!”
In First Toa Payoh Primary School, our PE curriculum is closely aligned to the national curriculum. At the lower primary level, we focus on the fundamental movements of the body.
For upper primary level, students learn about the various games concepts through the ‘Games Concept Approach’ (GCA) by playing modified games. We also aim to develop students’ core values and social emotional competencies through various learning experiences in the outdoors. We believe that when students enjoy their PE lessons, it kick-starts a love for a physically active lifestyle, which students can bring along with them long after they have left school.
“Respect”, “Friendship”, and “Excellence” – the Olympic values which are always centred around our annual Sports-4-All. It is a day of fun and games where students will show their sense of belonging to the houses and compete against each other and themselves to gain points for their house, at the same time, displaying the Olympic values.
Our students go through a developmental progression of camps from Primary 3 to Primary 5, where they experience and apply outdoor living skills together with their friends. The objectives of the camps are to build resilience, develop self-confidence and the social emotional competencies of our students.
